The digicam date stamp, explained

That glowing orange date in the bottom corner is pure late-90s / early-2000s camera nostalgia. Point-and-shoots printed the capture date right onto the film or sensor readout, and it became a signature of the digicam aesthetic. This tool recreates it faithfully: tabular digits, a soft shadow so it reads on bright shots, sized to your photo.

Frequently asked questions

Does this upload my photo?
No. The stamp is drawn on a canvas in your browser and the finished image is saved straight to your device. Nothing is uploaded to a server.
Where does the date come from?
If your photo still has its capture date in its metadata, we read it and stamp that automatically. You can override it with any date you like using the date picker.
Is the date burned into the photo?
Yes — that's the point of this tool. The finished JPEG has the orange date printed into the pixels, just like an old digicam or disposable camera.
Does the download keep any location data?
No. Re-saving the image through the canvas drops GPS and device metadata automatically; only the capture date is written back. So the download is location-clean.
